About Us

The Daphne Search and Rescue Unit is an all-volunteer first responder team based in Daphne, Alabama.  We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization which was incorporated in 1976.  The majority of our operating funding comes from donations.

We cover an area of approximately 300 square miles which includes:

  • Northern half of Mobile Bay from Point Clear to Interstate I-10
  • The Five Rivers delta system south of I-65
  • Land areas of Daphne, Spanish Fort and Fairhope

The vast majority of our responses are for water search and rescue missions on Mobile Bay or in the Five Rivers Delta.  We operate five boats which can be launched from numerous points around the bay.

We work and train regularly with the US Coast Guard, Baldwin County Sheriff Flotilla, Alabama Marine Police and our dedicated local volunteer and career fire departments.

We also work regularly with these other dedicated and respected search teams:

  • North Baldwin Search and Rescue
  • Lower Alabama Search and Rescue
  • South Baldwin Search and Rescue
